Can I add more panels to my existing solar system?
Sometimes. The existing inverter must have suitable input capacity, available trackers and a compliant string arrangement. Australis Solar also checks roof space, panel compatibility and Western Power approval before recommending additional panels.
Do I need a new inverter for a solar upgrade?
Not always. A suitable existing inverter may support additional panels. A replacement may be recommended where the inverter is undersized, ageing, unsupported, incompatible with a battery or unable to meet the proposed design requirements.
Is it better to expand or replace an older solar system?
This depends on the condition, age, remaining warranty and compatibility of the existing equipment. A full replacement can be more practical when the old system restricts roof space, monitoring, battery integration or the size of the proposed upgrade.
Can a battery be added to existing solar?
Many systems can be retrofitted with battery storage using a compatible hybrid or AC-coupled solution. The assessment must also consider the switchboard, meter, battery position, network approval, usable capacity and whether blackout backup is required.
Will a solar upgrade affect my feed-in arrangement?
It may. Changes to the inverter, generation capacity, meter or connection approval can affect the applicable export and buyback arrangements. Australis Solar reviews the proposed configuration, but customers should also confirm current account arrangements with Synergy.
Will upgraded solar work during a blackout?
A standard grid-connected solar system normally shuts down during a grid outage. Backup operation requires compatible equipment and a design that accounts for battery capacity, inverter output and the circuits or loads that need continued power.
Are STCs available for a solar upgrade?
Eligible new solar capacity may qualify when the equipment and complete installation meet current requirements. Existing panels or capacity that have already received STCs cannot be claimed again. Battery incentives have separate eligibility rules.
How long does a solar upgrade take?
Timing depends on design complexity, equipment availability, access, switchboard work and the required network or metering approvals. Installation duration is confirmed once the final scope has been assessed.
