Perth battery design, installation and support

Solar Battery Installation Perth

Australis Solar designs and installs Solar Battery systems for Perth homes and small businesses. Each system is sized around your Synergy bill, existing solar production, evening usage, inverter compatibility, switchboard, battery location, backup circuits and future EV plans.

A battery can store surplus solar for use later, but storage capacity, usable power and blackout performance depend on the battery, inverter and backup hardware selected. We explain the limits before recommending a system.

Start with the household, not the battery

Is a Solar Battery right for your property?

A battery is most useful when you regularly export surplus solar during the day and import electricity later. It may also suit households preparing for an EV, wanting greater energy control or seeking properly designed blackout support.

Improve solar self-consumption

Store some of the solar energy your property does not use immediately, then discharge it during evening or overnight demand.

Reduce grid reliance

Use stored energy to offset selected imports. The result depends on your usage profile, tariff, available solar surplus and system controls.

Plan for outages and EV charging

Add compatible backup hardware or prepare the system for future EV charging. These functions must be designed, not assumed.

A battery is not automatically the best next step.

If your existing solar system produces little surplus, your inverter is incompatible or the proposed battery location does not meet installation requirements, we may recommend an upgrade or a different system architecture.

Capacity, power and usable energy

How Australis Solar sizes a Solar Battery

Battery sizing should reflect what your home can charge, what it uses after solar production falls and what you expect the system to support. We review real information rather than selecting capacity from a generic package.

What we assess

  • Your recent Synergy bill and available interval data
  • Daytime, evening and overnight household usage
  • Existing panel capacity, roof layout, shading and solar production
  • Inverter model, phase, age, available inputs and battery compatibility
  • Switchboard condition, metering, protection and network requirements
  • Battery location, clearances, access and protection requirements
  • Critical loads, backup circuits and expected outage use
  • Future EV charging, electrification or additional storage goals
kWh

Energy capacity

How much usable energy the battery can store. This influences how long stored energy may last.

kW

Power output

How much power the battery and inverter can deliver at one time. This affects which loads can operate together.

DoD

Depth of discharge

Depth of discharge is the proportion of battery capacity used during a discharge cycle. More storage can provide a greater overnight buffer, but capacity should suit the available solar energy and household use.

Different properties need different architectures

Solar Battery options for Perth homes

Australis Solar compares the practical pathways available for your existing equipment, property layout and energy goals. Product availability and compatibility are confirmed during design.

Battery added to existing solar

Suitable where the existing solar array is performing well. We assess whether to retain the inverter, add an AC-coupled battery or replace equipment with a compatible hybrid platform.

Battery and solar upgrades

New solar and battery system

Panels, inverter, battery and controls are designed together. This can improve compatibility and gives more control over solar production, storage and future expansion.

Blackout backup

Backup may cover selected circuits or a wider group of household loads. The design must account for inverter output, surge demand, phase arrangement, battery state of charge and required backup hardware.

Battery and EV-ready energy system

Plan solar, storage and charging together so the switchboard, inverter capacity and energy controls support the way you expect to charge your vehicle.

Brand inclusion does not mean every model suits every property. Equipment lists, scheme eligibility and product specifications can change, so the proposal should identify the exact models offered.

Blackout performance must be designed

A Solar Battery does not automatically provide backup

During a grid outage, a standard grid-connected solar system shuts down for safety. To keep selected circuits operating, the battery system needs compatible backup functionality, correct isolation and a compliant electrical design.

Whole-home backup may be possible on some properties, but it is limited by the inverter’s available output, battery discharge capability, phase configuration and the loads operating at the same time.

Before recommending backup, we confirm:

  • Which circuits matter during an outage
  • Starting and running loads for appliances
  • Single-phase or three-phase supply
  • Gateway, controller or backup switch requirements
  • Switchboard space and upgrade requirements
  • Safe operating limits explained at handover

From bill review to handover

Our Perth Solar Battery installation process

The process is designed to confirm suitability before equipment is ordered and to give the installation team the information needed for a neat, compliant result.

  1. 1

    Usage and system review

You provide a Synergy bill, usage information, property details and photos of the inverter, switchboard and proposed battery area.

  2. 2

    Tailored design and options

We compare capacity, inverter architecture, backup scope, battery location, future EV needs and practical upgrade requirements.

  3. 3

    Technical review and approvals

The selected design is checked against product compatibility, electrical standards, network requirements and any current scheme conditions that apply.

  4. 4

    Installation, commissioning and handover

Our installation team completes the approved work, commissions monitoring and backup functions included in the scope, and explains the system’s operating limits.

Local advice, installation and support

Why choose Australis Solar for battery storage?

Australis Solar is a Perth-based, WA-owned company operating since 2008. We design, install and maintain custom solar, battery, blackout backup and EV charging systems across the Perth metropolitan area.

Our accredited in-house installers and licensed electricians work from the same documented design, helping keep the proposal, installation and handover aligned.

Designed around actual usage

Recommendations reflect your Synergy bill, solar profile and expected evening demand rather than a standard battery bundle.

Clear backup limitations

We identify what the proposed system can support during an outage and what additional hardware or circuit work is required.

Existing-system experience

We assess inverter compatibility, switchboard condition and whether retaining, replacing or expanding the existing equipment is sensible.

Future planning

The design can consider additional storage, increased household loads and future EV charging without promising unnecessary equipment today.

Check current eligibility before committing

WA rebates, approvals and Solar Battery eligibility

Eligible battery installations may receive support through federal and Western Australian programs, but discounts, approved products, customer eligibility, VPP conditions and administrative requirements can change.

Network approval, inverter limits, export settings and switchboard work also depend on the property and proposed system. Any proposal should state the assumptions used and remain subject to final technical review and approval.

Common customer questions

Solar Battery FAQs for Perth properties

Is a Solar Battery worth it in Perth?

It can be worthwhile when your property has regular surplus solar and meaningful evening or overnight grid use. Value depends on the installed cost, usable capacity, tariff, battery controls, available rebates and how long you expect to use the system. Australis Solar reviews your usage before estimating suitability.

Can I add a Solar Battery to my existing solar system?

Often, yes. The right method depends on the existing inverter, system age, phase, solar capacity, switchboard and battery model. The options may include an AC-coupled battery, a compatible DC-coupled battery or replacing the inverter with a hybrid system.

What size Solar Battery do I need?

The useful size is based on available solar surplus, evening and overnight consumption, desired reserve, backup expectations and inverter power. A larger battery can provide more overnight buffer, but it should still be practical to charge and use regularly.

Will a Solar Battery work during a blackout?

Only when the system includes compatible backup functionality and has been wired for the intended circuits. A battery installed without the required gateway, backup switch or compatible inverter may not supply the property when the grid is unavailable.

Can a battery provide whole-home backup?

Some systems can support broad or whole-home backup, but not every property or battery can. Available power is limited by the inverter, battery discharge rate, phase arrangement and appliance demand. High-starting loads may need to be managed or excluded.

Are solar battery rebates available in Western Australia?

Federal and WA support may be available for eligible installations. Scheme availability, rebate values, approved equipment, VPP participation and customer eligibility are not guaranteed and should be checked against current official requirements before purchase.

What information should I provide for a battery quote?

Provide a recent Synergy bill, available interval usage data, your address, photos of the switchboard and inverter, details of the existing solar system, the proposed battery location, backup priorities and any future EV charging plans.
