Challenges Faced in Solar Installation for Stirling, Perth Resident
- Roof Orientation Layout Issues: This Stirling homeowner had multiple roof orientations, presenting design challenges for optimal solar panel installation and maximising energy production.
- Weather-Resistant Solar Equipment: While the Sigenergy battery and inverter meet IP66 weatherproof standards for outside installation, the Gateway backup system does not offer the same water resistance, which required careful placement for Perth’s climate.
- Long Distance Between Main Switchboard and Gateway Backup: The considerable distance between the main switchboard and the Gateway backup required additional planning to maintain efficiency and reliability in the power backup system.
- Space-Saving Solutions for Stirling Solar Installation: The Stirling resident preferred not to install a bollard in the garage due to limiting the space for their vehicle, prompting our team to find alternative safety measures for the solar equipment without compromising the car parking area.
Solution Overview for Stirling Solar Installation
- Enhanced Flexibility with AIKO Neostar Panels: Australis Solar used AIKO Neostar panels to increase panel string capacity, allowing a more flexible design to maximise roof space and optimise solar production for the Stirling property.
- Efficient SigenStor Installation: The 8kWh SigenStor Controller and battery were installed on the Southern wall, strategically out of direct sunlight. This placement saved costs, conserved space, and avoided the need for a bollard, enhancing garage space for the resident.
- Weather-Protected Gateway Installation: The Gateway backup system was installed within the garage, offering ample weather protection. Its elevated position eliminated the need for impact protection measures, ensuring a safe, secure setup.
- Extended Cabling for Backup Power: Extended cables were run through the roof cavity between the switchboard and Gateway, ensuring reliable power supply to the home even during grid outages, enhancing resilience and reliability for the Stirling homeowner.
Estimated Annual Output: 9, 592kWh
