Deciding on a Solar Panel? Get them installed by Australis Solar

Established in 2008, we use our knowledge to choose the best solar panels that the industry has to offer. Australis Solar chooses panels that are high quality, powerful and efficient. Using the latest technology, these are panels built with longevity in mind, meaning you can trust them and the warranties for decades to come.

Australis Solar has selected the best solar panels, so you don’t have to

Solar energy harnesses the power of sunlight to generate clean, renewable electricity for your home or business. Photovoltaic (PV) panels or solar panels are usually made of silicon, glass and metals. They create direct current (DC) electricity which is fed into an inverter. The inverter then converts it into usable alternating current (AC) electricity. The AC electricity then travels from the inverter to your electrical panel or switchboard, where it can power your home’s lights, appliances, and other electronics. At least that is the simple explanation.

Founded in Norway in 1996, REC Group is the leading European brand for solar panels and has been providing sustainable and high-performance products, services, and investments for the solar industry for over 20 years.

The REC Alpha Pure-R is a premium high efficiency panel and manufactured in Singapore. This is an ALL-Black panel with a modern and sleek look giving it an edge in the market. It is the latest and most advanced solar panel from REC Group, featuring innovative N-type half-cut cells, gap-less all-black technology allowing a more integrated streamlined look, delivering high power output and comes backed by a 25-year warranty.

REC introduced the Pure-R line of panels which are lead-free, making them the ultimate eco-friendly choice. REC solar panels have been highly rated by professional installers. They have an innovative split module design with half-cut cells, rather than the standard full size square cells. Designed to be divided into top and bottom halves and so if one half is shaded it won’t affect the output of the other. This makes them more tolerant to partial shade and soiling than many other panels. Internal testing which is twice as stringent as industry standards, only an average of 400 REC panels come back every year out of the 4 million that are manufactured. This is a return rate of just 0.0001%.

Voted Best Solar Panels of 2023 and 2024

The Trina Solar Vertex S+ 440W panel is a high-performance solar module that stands out for its advanced technology and efficiency. What is in a Solar Panel?

Mono-crystalline solar cells

Solar panels made from single-crystal (mono) silicon, this results in a uniform dark color. This is aesthetically more appealing for many Perth home owners as the panels look black and blend in better with more roof types. Western Australia has hot climate, which means solar installation companies need to keep in mind the solar panel coefficients. The coefficient depends on the panel brand and it greatly affects the efficiency of production from your panels. When choosing the best solar panels for your home, it can be overwhelming with all the variables.

The material of the roof type can impact solar panel temperature as well. Rooves are designed to absorb massive amounts of heat throughout the year and installing solar panels on them means they take the impact instead. Only by using a trusted solar company that has expertise in Perth installations means that you can relax, knowing it has already been accounted for.

Polycrystalline (Multi) solar cells

Solar panels made from multiple crystals (poly) of silicon, leading to a variegated blue color. Several fragments of silicon are melted together to form wafers which forms the panel. This solar panel design means that they stand out on roofs a lot more than monocrystalline solar panels. They also operate less efficiently that a mono-crystalline solar panel in higher temperatures such as that of Perth’s hot climate. Professional solar panel installers in Western Australia should take this into account as it also significantly reduces the life expectancy of the panel as they are not designed for this.

Most crystalline panels will last the manufacturers warranty which is 25 years. Polycrystalline panels can last anywhere between 25-35 years with regular maintenance and servicing. Whilst monocrystalline panels can last up to 40 years. Although both can last for decades, they both lose their efficiency over time. Solar panels have an average degradation rate of 0.5% per year meaning they drop in power and wattage.

Advantages

Mono-crystalline panels have a higher efficiency due to purity and higher silicon content.

These solar panels are more efficient with ranges of 15% – 23% and therefore more space-efficient, producing more power per square foot.

Advantages

Creating each panel is less intensive and requires less energy than monocrystalline solar panels therefore cost-effective production.

Disadvantages

Due to the design of them they are complex and energy-intensive during the manufacturing process.

The complexity and energy required to manufacture them means there is a higher production cost.

Disadvantages

These panels are more suitable for cooler weather conditions due to higher temperature coefficients therefore not recommended for Perth.

The efficiency operates around 13% – 16% which is lower compared to mono-crystalline cells.

Due to lower efficiency, they require more space for the same electricity output

What to avoid when buying solar panels

Solar industry complaints have doubled in the last year, so to avoid being set up by a solar scam, here are some of the warning signs to look out for.

We have been operating since 2008 and have our merits to show we will continue to operate into the future.

Make exaggerated claims such as ‘no more energy bills’

It would be fantastic to promise “no more energy bills”, unfortunately, such a claim would be an exaggeration. Switching to solar energy can significantly reduce your energy bills, especially in the long term, but it’s important to note that factors like weather conditions, energy usage patterns, and the size of your solar installation can influence the extent of your savings. Australis Solar is committed to providing efficient solar solutions tailored to your needs, helping you save money and contribute to a greener future, but we can’t promise you’ll never see another energy bill.
