Western Australian requirements
What must be confirmed for a Perth installation?
A global product announcement does not establish that every model is approved, available, rebate-eligible or appropriate for installation in Western Australia. The complete system and whole-of-site configuration must meet the requirements applying at the time of installation.
WA requirements from 1 May 2026
New and upgraded solar and battery systems on the South West Interconnected System must support current grid requirements and complete the required capability testing.
Standard small-user connections can provide a pathway for aggregate distributed-energy capacity of up to 30 kVA, subject to the final design, approval and network conditions.
Remote management or fixed export
Systems participating in applicable export products must support the required remote-disconnection and reconnection functions through an approved technical solution.
A standard 1.5 kW export limit may apply where the customer does not participate in an export product or cannot maintain ongoing communications after testing.
Whole-home backup is not automatic
Backup performance depends on inverter output, battery power, phase supply, switchboard design, appliance starting loads and the circuits connected to the backup system.
A system described as capable of whole-home backup may still require load management or selected circuits to operate reliably during an outage.
Rebate eligibility and product recalls
WA battery-scheme eligibility is not guaranteed. The required equipment and whole-of-site solution must meet the scheme, DER-Storage, VPP, installation and commissioning requirements applying at the time.
The 2025 ACCC recall identifies specific SigenStor 8, 10 and 12 kW single-phase Australian Energy Controllers fitted with a particular AC connector. The notice does not identify SigenStor Neo.

Is SigenStor Neo available in Perth?
Sigenergy announced the global rollout of SigenStor Neo in July 2026. Perth availability should still be confirmed against Australian model numbers, local stock, Clean Energy Council approvals, Synergy's Supported Solutions List and the supplier's Australian warranty terms before you accept a quote.
What is SigenStor Neo?
SigenStor Neo is Sigenergy's next-generation all-in-one residential energy system. Sigenergy's global launch material describes an integrated PV inverter, battery, power conversion system, energy management system and gateway, with stackable storage and dedicated Smart and Backup Ports.
Does SigenStor Neo provide whole-home backup?
Sigenergy promotes whole-home backup capability, but a Perth installation must still be designed around the property's phase supply, inverter output, battery power, switchboard, starting loads and nominated circuits. A battery product alone does not guarantee that every appliance can run during an outage.
How is SigenStor Neo different from current SigenStor?
Neo integrates gateway functions and focuses on a compact all-in-one residential layout. The current SigenStor is already established in Australia and supports the dedicated Sigen EV DC Charging Module, modular storage and separate Gateway-based backup configurations. The best option depends on local availability and the home's required power, storage, backup and EV charging.
Can SigenStor Neo work with existing solar panels?
Potentially, but compatibility depends on the existing inverter, solar array, phase supply, metering, communications and whole-of-site compliance. Australis Solar would assess whether the existing system can remain, needs integration through an approved pathway or should be upgraded.
Can SigenStor Neo qualify for the WA battery rebate?
Eligibility is not automatic. For a Synergy customer, the installed solution must meet the WA scheme rules, appear in the required DER-Storage category on Synergy's Supported Solutions List, be supplied through an approved pathway and meet VPP and commissioning requirements that apply at the time.
Should I wait for SigenStor Neo or install a battery now?
Consider Neo if its confirmed Australian configuration matches your home and your project timing is flexible. An available current SigenStor or another approved battery may be better if you need installation sooner, require a proven local configuration or want dedicated DC EV charging. Compare both against your actual usage rather than choosing by release date alone.
Does the 2025 Sigenergy recall apply to SigenStor Neo?
The ACCC recall names specific SigenStor EC 8.0, 10.0 and 12.0 kW single-phase Australian Energy Controllers with a particular quick-connect AC plug, sold from 4 March to 18 November 2025. The recall notice does not identify SigenStor Neo. Exact model and current recall status should still be checked before installation.
