The client, a highly informed solar enthusiast, approached us with a clear goal: to transition from a functional but limited Fronius inverter setup to a cutting-edge hybrid solution capable of taking full advantage of the WA battery rebate and the evolving Virtual Power Plant (VPP) ecosystem.

Challenges Faced in Solar Installation for Mindarie, Perth Resident:

• Why Upgrade a Working System?

  Although the existing Fronius system was still operational, it lacked hybrid capability. With Synergy’s battery incentive offering up to $1,300 upfront for eligible homes, the opportunity to combine a new hybrid inverter with battery storage made long-term sense.

  Initially, we considered retaining the old panels, but replacing them entirely triggered new STCs, full manufacturer warranties, and a far more efficient long-term outcome.

Design Excellence – Pushing Sigenergy to the Limit with 244% oversizing

Mindarie’s unique roof layout required a highly strategic approach. To capture all-day sunlight across north, east and west orientations, we strategically deployed 13 TIGO optimisers and custom stringing techniques. This allowed us to oversize the inverter to 244% of its rated capacity – the maximum permissible by the manufacturer – pushing the boundaries of what’s currently being done in Australia.

This design approach results in:

• Increased self-consumption across varied daylight hours

• A balanced load across multiple orientations

• Future-proof integration with VPPs and evolving grid services
